The Top 49 and sports

The glorification of elite athleticism is by no means a new phenomenon. Sporting excellence has long been revered — particularly among the general male population. Professional athletes can often serve as sources of immense inspiration, entertainment, and adoration. The ability to excel in the sporting world can take years of hard work, dedication, and perseverance — all highly regarded and valued characteristic traits in our society. Not surprisingly, when readers were asked to select the best representatives of the male population, a significant number of prominent athletes made the final cut.
