Talk about Decor8!

I’m inspired by this beautiful winter scene of Bjork. I love the texture, the warmth of her outfit combined with the cold icy background and the intense look in her eyes. Absolutely lush. I think I’ll print it out and add it to my inspiration board.

"The reason I do photographs is to help people understand my music, so it’s very important that I am the same, emotionally, in the photographs as in the music. Most people’s eyes are much better developed than their ears. If they see a certain emotion in the photograph, then they’ll understand the music." -Björk, Index Magazine, July 2001

I’m so glad it’s Friday, aren’t you? I’m hanging out here at my desk munching on dried apricots and relaxing to the hypnotic sounds of the Army of Me Bersarinplatz Mix by Beats Beyond. I love how Bjork carries her voice in this song. Listening to her always calls to mind enchanting videos and lush photos of her in amazing costumes in somewhat surreal environments. Wouldn’t you love to have one day with her photographer and access to her closet?

Kicking off Friday with Bjork is somewhat dangerous though because it instantly lifts me into weekend mode. Next weekend, my best friend is coming up to stay with me for 3 days. I know this sounds so high school, but she’s my very best friend in the whole wide world. Nights spent at a cozy pub around the fire talking until the wee hours, laughing about her work problems… I can’t wait to see her.

Just enjoy every moment you have. Life is precious. Happy Friday!

Ballard Designs

Ballards recently redesigned their site, it’s a lot more user friendly; so much better organized. Although they’re a far cry from mid-century modern or even contemporary, you are bound to score a few winning gifts or accents for your home or office, especially since they carry random lamps and mirrors that would complement your modern space. They have some of the best mirrors around. In addition to their two storefronts in Georgia, they also have a outlet store in West Chester, Ohio. Has anyone been?

Some of my spring favorites from Ballards…

Seduced by the works of New Hampshire artist, Gina Adams, my inspiration today flows from her nature-inspired encaustic pieces and her resplendent paintings. Three of my favorites are collaged together above; I adore the graceful movement and flow, the combination of luscious colors, completely captivating. My wished-for collections are the encaustics and unconscious, both displayed on her website. Gina works from her studio at the Salmon Falls Mills in Rollinsford, NH. If you are local, the mills will hold a special spring open studios event featuring 75 artists, including Gina, in case you’re looking to acquire your own original art. Click here to learn more.

Bernabei Freeman

Ah. Bernabei Freeman lighting. What a turn on. When I spotted these jaw dropping stunners, I simply couldn’t resist posting them, even though the closest store is Living Edge in Australia. They’re certain to send chills up your spine… Fingers crossed, a design savvy retailer will pick them up pronto so we can suspend these darlings in modern homes on this side of the globe.

Also, don’t miss their Shibori Screen. Lush.

My favorite below – just look at it! Yum!
